Rolling Back to a System Restore Point

  1. Click on the start button at the bottom-left corner of the screen (it looks like a window made of four panes).
  2. A menu will appear on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. Click the small gear icon that appears a couple of centimetres above the start button.
  4. A ‘Settings’ window will appear.
  5. In the search box just under ‘Windows Settings’ type the phrase ‘restore point’.
  6. Items that match the phrase ‘restore point’ will appear immediately under the search box.
  7. Click the item that says ‘Create a restore point’ (even though we are not creating one).
  8. A ‘System Properties’ window will appear.
  9. Click the ‘System Restore...’ button.
  10. A ‘System Restore’ window will appear.
  11. Click the ‘Next >’ button.
  12. A list of existing system restore points will appear.
  13. Click on the system restore point that displays the date and time to which you wish to roll back.
  14. Click the ‘Next >’ button.
  15. You will now be asked to confirm the chosen restore point.
  16. Click the ‘Finish’ button to proceed with the system restore operation.
  17. Wait until the system restore operation has finished, which can take a very long time.
